Over the past year, PERT has created four sectoral tables (employment service providers, employers, education experts, and regional leaders ) that explore the issue of employment for English speakers in Québec. The creation of our sectoral tables comes at a time when the English-speaking community is facing many new challenges. Now more than ever, it’s crucial to have productive conversations about how to tackle these challenges and develop solutions to ensure English speakers are able to adapt and meaningfully contribute to Québec’s labour market.
PERT’s Sectoral Tables are intended to accomplish this by bringing together sectoral leaders, experts, and community members with lived experiences, to identify and consult on pressing issues facing the English-speaking community as they emerge. Through fostering discussions, our sectoral tables help to guide the research and policy priorities of our organization. This process will also provide us with, and give us the tools to present relevant stakeholder information to our partners in government.
With this vision in mind, we are eager to continue growing our employer and education sectoral tables.
Our Employer Sectoral Table assumes the important role of bringing together the owners, leaders, recruiters, hiring managers, and HR professionals of small, medium and/or large businesses and organizations that operate in Québec and who want, need to, or currently employ English-speakers. It’s a place for employers to discuss changing business and organizational landscapes, and the solutions needed to recruit, employ and develop the crucial workforce they need for success.
As our education sector continues to face evolving challenges, PERT’s Education Sectoral Table offers a space for educators, education experts, and students from across the province to come together and engage in productive dialogue around the development of policy solutions that improve matters related to the design, development, and access to education and skills training programs for English-speakers in Québec.
